Terms of Use

Last updated: October 22, 2026

Agreement

By accessing or using ShapeMason — the web app at shapemason.com, the app for macOS, iPadOS and iOS, or the shapemason command-line tool — you agree to these Terms of Use. ShapeMason is provided by Nearly Done ("we", "us"). If you do not agree, do not use ShapeMason.

The service

ShapeMason is a free tool that turns vector art (SVG, DXF) and meshes (STL, 3MF, OBJ, PLY, glTF) into CAD files such as DXF sketches and STEP solids. Conversion runs on your device, or in your browser on the web; your files are never uploaded. ShapeMason does not charge fees, has no accounts and does not host your files.

Your files

You keep all rights to the files you open in ShapeMason and to the files it makes from them. We claim no ownership of them and receive no licence to them, because they never reach us. You are responsible for having the right to use the art, models and designs you convert.

Software licence

ShapeMason is proprietary software. Nearly Done grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use ShapeMason (the web app, the apps and the shapemason command-line tool), for personal or commercial purposes, for as long as you comply with these terms. Nearly Done keeps all rights in ShapeMason that these terms do not expressly grant.

You may not:

Third-party components are not covered by this licence. They remain under their own licences, listed under Settings › Acknowledgements in the apps and the web app, and by shapemason licenses. If you get the app from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies.

No warranties

ShapeMason is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that conversions will be accurate or complete, that every file can be converted, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Check your files before you make anything

Converted files can differ from what you expect: dimensions, units, scale, tolerances, curves and shapes can come out wrong. Check every file ShapeMason makes, in your CAD software and against your own requirements, before you use it to manufacture, print, cut or machine anything. You are responsible for how you use the files.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Nearly Done is not liable for any damages arising from your use of ShapeMason or the files it makes, including dimensional errors, failed or wasted parts, materials, machine time, lost data, and indirect, incidental or consequential losses. Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Third-party services

ShapeMason is distributed and hosted through other providers, including Apple (the App Store), GitHub (CLI downloads) and Cloudflare (the web app). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms. You are responsible for complying with those terms when you get or use ShapeMason.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse ShapeMason. Prohibited conduct includes:

We may block access to the web app when we reasonably believe these terms have been violated.

Termination

We may discontinue or modify the service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including your files, the disclaimers and the limits on liability) will survive.

Privacy

Our collection and use of information is described in the Privacy Policy.
